Reminiscing

This past block give away put me in contact with old friends from my junior college days.  It was fun how we all met and kept college tolerable especially since we all lived at home.  As I have looked back I realized that I was really lucky to have had the friends I had in college.  Sadly to say that as we moved on, some to to attain a four year degree, others to marry and start a family and others to move away to start a life on their own, I have lost contact with a lot of them.  There are those few that I have connected with via face book or other social media groups.  I believe I have turned out all right because of my friends.

Here is a Kyle update

 Who taught him this?!

He has now realized that he can climb into the bassinet for the new one arriving in the near future.  Is this a problem?

On the wood working note.  I attended for the first time the Orange County Woodworkers Association.  I thought it would be interesting.  Their meetings are close to work.  It was actually really informative and learned a few things from the presenter.  The part that drew me to this club was the toy building group.  They build about 5000 toys a year and give them to children in need.  The group gets together about once a month to make toys.  I was kind of scared when I first walked in.  I think I was the youngest person there by about 20 years.  They turned out to be an interesting group of people.  I was surprised how big of a group it was.  There was over 60 people and I guess there are even more attend the wood turners meeting in the middle of the month.
Part of my job is to evaluate the competitive units and glean from what they are doing well.  I like to test out some of the methods seen on other units and what our company is transitioning to on my projects.  I am currently working on a chest of drawers for the kids.  The original plastic one just isn't big enough any more.    I used a stringer system and deep encapsulation on this dresser and wow it is fantastic.  The carcass of the dresser squared up and assembled nicely.  The even better part is the carcass is solid without a back panel.  I am excited how this is turning out.

Tomorrow is the cut off for the block stories.
